Representing Member Interests & Collaborating with Policymakers

The Council advocates with state and federal officials to enact legislation and promote increases in appropriations aimed to support Missourians with severe mental illness or substance use disorders. By engaging in public policy advocacy, we empower our member organizations with the resources they need to help Missourians lead productive lives in their communities.

Initiative

Workforce Development Program

Providing training and support to the next generation of community support specialists in partnership with Missouri’s community colleges.

Prevention, Treatment, & Recovery Services

We collaborate closely with state leaders in the Department of Mental Health, Division of Behavioral Health, the Department of Social Services, and the MO HealthNet Division to introduce innovative and advanced practices into the statewide behavioral health provider system. 

Current and past initiatives include:

- Telehealth services and access

- Substance use disorder treatment system

- Implementation of the national 988 behavioral health crisis and suicide prevention line
